Our Family of Companies

Wesgroup Properties entered the Material Handling industry and acquired the first dealership in the Family of Companies. Williams Machinery had just celebrated 100 years of service in British Columbia. They excelled in providing service and training programs to material handlers and offered a great range of leading forklift brands, including Clark, Sellick, Bobcat, Daewoo, Trackless, Bendi, and Drexel.

Williams Machinery pursued industry expansion. Driven by Wesgroup’s vision and operational excellence, Williams began developing their talent and leadership. To foster a culture where people come first, they revised their core values, introduced new upgrades to their employee benefits packages, and launched a Long Term Service Award Recognition program. With a stronger team and increased operational capacity, Williams Machinery expanded their collection of brands once more to include Hubtex, and, by 2013, had opened new locations in Kelowna, Prince George, and Surrey.

Wesgroup became a leading player in the Construction industry, through their purchase of Surfwood Equipment and Bobcat Country. Surfwood Equipment had been a leading provider of Bobcat and Doosan Portable products in Nanaimo, Victoria, and Kamloops, from 1957 to 2010. Bobcat Country, a winner of the 2009 Business of the Year Award, focused on providing Vermeer products to the Fraser Valley, from 1975 to 2010. The amalgamation of these two dealerships formed Westerra Equipment, which would become the second of Wesgroup’s family of Companies. It was then that Wesgroup Properties formed Wesgroup Equipment with a vision to set a higher industry standard for dealership service and reliability, and a mission to contribute to a prosperous BC by supplying equipment to those who drive our economy.

-2013: Wesgroup Equipment applied the same growth and development strategies to Westerra Equipment as they did with Williams Machinery and developed a rich company culture. Westerra expanded with a new Parts Distribution Centre, new business offices across British Columbia, and with the addition of the Doosan heavy product line. Within a year, Westerra Equipment rose from the 55th spot to the 3rd ranking authorized Doosan dealership in North America.

Wesgroup Equipment added Vermeer BC to their Family of Companies to, once again, expand their great range of equipment.
